Keep a song's chorus, extract a few key minutes from a recording, or remove a long silent introduction. Audio Clip displays a waveform so you can see louder passages and pauses before selecting a range to export.
How to trim audio
- Open Audio Clip and select a file. The tool shows Loading audio… while reading it.
- Once loaded, the waveform and current playback time / total duration appear.
- Drag over the waveform to select the portion to keep. Time Trim shows the start and end times.
- Click Listen to preview the selection.
5. Click Start, then Download to save an MP3 file.
Finding edit points in the waveform
- Taller peaks indicate louder passages, often speech or a song's chorus.
- Nearly flat sections indicate silence or pauses and can be useful edit points.
- Choosing a quiet boundary helps avoid cutting through a word or starting a clip abruptly.
Preparing a ringtone
- Length: around 30 seconds is a useful starting point; check your phone's requirements.
- Starting point: begin a beat or two before the chorus for a more natural opening.
- Format: this tool exports MP3, which many Android phones can use as a ringtone. iPhone ringtone workflows may require conversion to M4R and a separate import step; this tool does not export M4R.
Editing voice recordings
- Export selected sections of a meeting or lecture separately for different recipients.
- Remove setup time or trailing conversation, then use Audio Compression to reduce file size further.
Valid selection ranges
The end time must be after the start time and within the audio duration. If the tool reports an invalid range, select the desired portion again.
